Arielle Gold is an example of the powers of nominative determinism. At just 16 years of age, she became the second youngest snow boarder ever to win the half-pipe gold medal at the FIS World Snowboarding Championship. She has also put in many other fine performances throughout the year, with a bronze at the Winter X Games in SuperPipe now also resting nicely on her parent's mantelpiece. Her success on the senior circuit was preceded by impressive performances on the junior scene. She had been making waves on the FIS tour for quite some time and claimed some silverware at the 2012 Youth Winter Olympics in Innsbruck. Alongside these two great achievements, the young American also has a victory at the Burton European Open and a silver in the US equivalent. Previous to this, in 2012, she won silver in both Slopestyle and halfpipe at the Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck. Arielle was born 1996 in Colorado, USA with the mountains on her doorstep. Having started off competing in all five snowboarding disciplines, Gold has recently made the move to specialise on half-pipe riding. She's recently ascended into the senior US Snowboarding team and will be looking to add to her Olympic medals collection. Not content with killing it in the mountains, Gold also has a couple of horses to call her own. The more time she spends horsing around on the mountains the better.
