Ben Kilner is one of Great Britain' most promising snowboard talents. Aged 22, he was the only UK male snowboarder to qualify for the 2010 Winter Olympics. He narrowly missed out on the Half-pipe final, finishing 18th overall. Four years on he's one of Britain's best boarders and Team GB's biggest medal hopes in 2014.
Kilner is from Scotland and learnt his trade in the highlands of Glencoe. It is probably no coincidence that the UK's hottest snowboard property came from the one place in the British Isles almost guaranteed snow every year. Since then he's branched out and travelled the globe, competing everywhere he can.
Born and raised in rural Scotland in August 1988, Kilner now rides for the US giants, Nike. In a recent interview, their UK brand manager mentioned that on top of his talent it was his attitude and approach that attracted them to him. He started boarding aged 9, taking advantage of his school being shut due.. Snow. His family used the day for a snowboard lesson and the rest is history.
Nicknamed 'Killdog', Ben works out with the cage fighters that his father trains. Having claimed that he is yet to be confronted by anything that scares Kilner is one not to be messed with. He's a regular star on the slopes as well as in Team GB video series. Ben is the reigning British Half-pipe champ and is looking to lead his country to glory next year in Russia.
