Spaniard Dany Torres has taken part in the Red Bull X-Fighters world tour every year since 2007. He experienced his greatest success in 2011, winning the X-Fighters world title and taking third place at X Games 17.
Currently ranked number ten in the world, DT has won the X-Knights event in Costa Rica five times, including four consecutive years starting in 2007, and has also achieved success in European events in Zurich and Rome. So far in 2013 he has finished first at both Night of the Jumps in Munich and Red Bull X-Fighters Dubai, and taken the runner-up spot at Red Bull X-Fighters Mexico and the IFMXF World Championship in Kaunas, Lithuania.
He comes from a small village called Arahal, near Seville in Spain, and was given a bike as a Christmas present at the age of just three! He spent most of his childhood competing in MX and SX championships until trying FMX for the first time at the age of 15, a moment which he describes as ‘life-changing’. After building his own foam pit to practice bigger tricks he decided to compete in FMX full time in 2002.
He continues to compete in events in his home country, where he says the crowds make him feel at home, and where he often performs the ‘turn down’, his favourite FMX trick. His priority is the same as when his career in FMX started - to enjoy what he does. “Where some see fear,” he says, “I find fun”.
