Drew Bezanson was awarded the Transworld BMX NORA Cup for Ramp Rider of the year in 2010 and 2012. He is also a three-time Simpel Session champion (in 2010, 2011, and 2012), a three-time winner of the Toronto BMX Jam (in 2008, 2010 and 2012), and was named JoMoPro champion in 2010. As a rookie on the Dew Tour in 2008, he made three finals and landed the first ever double truck driver off the curved wallride, finishing ninth overall in the park rankings.
In 2013, Drew has given solid performances at the X Games, finishing in sixth place in Barcelona and fifth in Munich. This year he has also claimed the gold medal at Red Bull Framed Reactions in Amsterdam and taken second place at the Dew Tour Beach Championship in Maryland, USA.
Born in 1989 in Toronto, Canada, Drew grew up on the country’s east coast in Truro, Nova Scotia. Originally a motocross rider, he got hooked on BMX after visiting a skatepark at the age of 12, and despite the area’s long winters resulting in extended periods of seclusion from the rest of the BMX world, his riding progressed quickly.
He is a natural rider, with a persistence and a genuine passion for BMX which is paying dividends. He recently won the fifth edition of the Baltic Games in Gdansk in typical flamboyant style, and he says his creativity and skill come from simply having fun with friends while riding. However, his philosophy on life is surprisingly rugged - ‘only the toughest survive’.
