Elena Hight was only 13-years-old when, in 2002, she became the first woman to land a 900 in competition. Much more recently, during the Superpipe competition at the X Games in Aspen, Colorado 2013, she became the first snowboarder, male or female, to land a double backside alley-oop rodeo. Having represented the United States in the halfpipe in 2006 and 2010, Hight is already, at the age of 23, a double Olympian. She finished 6th in her first outing and 10th the second time around. Born in Kaui, Hawaii, in the United States, on the 17th August 1989, influenced by her Father, Hight began snowboarding at the age of six and first entered competitions as an 8-year-old. In 2012, Hight finally started turning her style and promise into podium finishes, with the Gold medal at the Grand Prix in Mammoth, Silver medals at both the Winter X Games in Aspen and in Tignes, France and a Gold medal at the US Open Snowboarding Championships in Stratton. This success also led to her releasing six design through the Volcom clothing range - VOLCOMunity. Hight is an incredibly progressive rider, as evidenced by being the first to pull off several moves in competition. With a passion for healthy living, she is also often seen as an All-American girl next door. With her current performance level, Hight is well on track to being in contention for gold at the Sochi Olympics in 2014.
