Elias Elhardt

In 2006, just as Elias Elhardt was climbing up the snowboarding ranks, he suffered from a severe lung infection and inflammation, which led to him having to take a year out from the sport. He came back gradually, and in the 2009/10 season he picked up 3rd spot at the Oakley Air & Style competition. Indeed, he progressed so well throughout that season that he finished it ranked 38th in the World TTR list. Elias is best known as a comp boarder, with competitions having played an important part in his career from the outset. His illness along with other niggling injuries have meant that he hasn't seen the tournament success that perhaps he would have done if fully fit. He has impressed since coming back, however, and with multiple top ten finishes alongside a few podiums, he has started to display the tangible products of his talent. Elhardt was born in Germany and made the move from the skatepark to the slopes in 1999. He says it was a natural move for his skating clique to try their hand at snowboarding too. They did this initially at their local mountains. His move into competition came a decade later, delayed by illness and injury. Elhardt is a lover of powder who has an energy on the slopes that is almost unparalleled. This makes him easy to spot on the slopes. He is one of Germany's most capable snowboarders and with his passion, focus and love of competition, it is almost certain that he will be pushing for major tournament success over the coming years.
