Norwegian Erik Botner is a professional snowboarder riding for Nitro, Oakley, Sessions Boardstore, Hoppipolla, Landing Headwear and Nike 6.0. One of the most talented riders around, he has rejected the Olympic route to fame in order to concentrate on filming video parts showing off his outrageous skills.
His first video appearance was in one of the first releases from Factor Film’s Petter Foshaug and he also worked with Pirate Movie Productions on Hooked (2010) and Bottom Line (2011). Other stand out parts include Nike 6.0′s D-Pad Session, which showcased his skills on the park features, his 2012 part from HyperMountain, and Nitro Snowboarding’s Turn On, Tune Out, Drop In, featuring all his pow, park and street moves.
Born on 30th May 1988 in Oslo, Erik’s home mountain is nearby Varingskollen. He first went skiing at his family’s cabin in Trysil at the age of ten, but soon moved across to the snowboard. His local heroes at Varingskollen were Andreas Wiig and the G-Had Crew, and he cites Terje Håkonsen as one of the biggest influence on his career.
Riding with a regular stance, Erik has some amazing tricks in his locker including his favourites - BS 5s and FS 3s. Since performing his first trick, the backflip, at Varingskollen, he has gone on to master everything from wallrides, park kickers, handrails, pillow lines, and backcountry double corks, and has the ability to string them all together like few other riders in the world today.
