Katie Ormerod is one of the most exciting British snowboarders around, and one of the youngest too. Despite being only 16 she's already pushing competitors a decade older than her in big competitions. Katie became the champion of both the British Big Air Competition and the British Slopestyle Competition, as well as finishing 9th place in the Roxy Snow Pro competition - all in 2012. In that same year, she placed 2nd in the Girls Half-Pipe Junior BEO and 3rd in Girls Slopestyle Junior BEO, also in 2012. Like fellow British talent, Jamie Nicholls, Katie hails from Yorkshire and began riding on the artificial slopes of Halifax having first tried it aged 5. Developing alongside Nicholls helped her improve rapidly and both are expected to feature at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Ormerod has the tricks to go far, her favourite trick is the backside 720 and she is also only the fifth woman to land a double backflip. She joined Roxy recently alongside fellow brits Jenny Jones and Aimee Fuller. The three are an exciting proposition for any British snowboarding watcher. Katie is still balancing the demands of school with her snowboarding and once she finishes her education she aims to become the best British female rider.
