Californian Patrick Gudauskas won two tour events in 2006, the 3-Star Ferrolterra Pantin Classic and the 4-Star Vendee Surf Pro, but it wasn’t until 2008 that he began to make some serious waves in the surfing community. That year, he won the 4-Star O’Neill Sebastian Inlet Pro and was only two places shy of making the elite World Championship Tour. He came back strongly in 2009, with highlights including an epic final against Australia’s Owen Wright in the 6-Star Prime Sri Lankan Airlines Pro at Pasta Point in the Maldives, and he finished the year with an overall rating of second on the WQS. He has been a constant presence on the Dream Tour ever since, and has picked up two further tour victories - the ASP Prime Mr Price Pro Ballito in 2011 and the 2013 Vans Pro, at 1st Street Jetty, Virginia Beach. Born on 20th November 1985 in La Jolla, Pat grew up surfing with his brothers Tanner and Dane, both of whom have gone on to surf at a high level. He rounded off his illustrious amateur career with a win at the 2003 NSSA Nationals. Drawing inspiration from trying to out-surf his siblings, Pat has created a progressive style all his own. His bottomless bag of aerial tricks, including Rodeo flips, air 360s with extra twists, and every kind of grab, has boosted him into global stardom, and his go-for-broke approach means he is always the fans’ favourite.
