In 2007, at the age of just 17, British freerider Sam Pilgrim set the sport alight with his incredible talent. In what was his first full year of international competition, Sam won a number of major contests, including the Austrian King of Dirt competition, and he followed it up in 2008 with the biggest triumph of his career so far - the Nissan Qashquai Urban Challenge in London. In recent years, his progress has continued with wins at White Style in Leogang in 2010 and 2011, and at the 2011 Red Bull District Ride in Nuremberg. On the FMB World Tour he finished third in the overall standings in 2011, fifth in 2012, and is currently ranked at number one for 2103, with highlights including a third place at Redbull Joyride. Sam is known as one of the genuine 'nice guys' of mountain biking, who has let his enjoyment of riding take him to the very top. Born on 4th June 1990 in Colchester, Essex, he began riding as a 14-year-old. He quickly won his first competition, the Filthy 48, and soon turned pro. There is no doubt that he likes to go fast, a fact which explains his most recognizable physical attribute - a missing front tooth. However, he’s not only made a name for himself as the British kid who can ride like crazy (with big tricks including his favourite, the backflip tailwhip), but also as the guy that you’d want to hang out with after the competition.
