TJ Ellis

Large_tj_ellis_header

On the 2006 AST Dew Tour, TJ Ellis was one of only two riders to land the double back flip. However, he struggled to put down consistent runs at the start of his career, recording a sole top 10 overall finish in 2007, when he finished the season ranked ninth. Things changed in 2009, when he impressed fans with an array of flip and spin variations, and he won the Warriors of Wood contest. On the Dew Tour, Ellis put together a pair of second-place showings - the first podium finishes of his Tour career - to close out the 2009 season in third place overall, and he also finished third the following year. In 2012, he won the Best Trick contest at the Red Bull Empire of Dirt, and there was a podium finish at Dreamline in New Mexico in 2013. Born in southern California in 1986, TJ is well-known for his positive attitude and friendly demeanour. He says he has been riding for ‘as long as he can remember’: “When I took my training wheels off and started jumping off curbs as a kid, it just stuck with me and the only thing I wanted to do was peddle. It never gets old and I love the challenge of progression.” He is always pushing the limits of BMX and lists his favourite trick as variations on the back flip. Despite briefly losing mobility in his foot following an accident in Colombia in 2010, he has continued to progress and push to see what is possible on his bike.
